Dictionary Tokens & Tokenomics
Token
Also known as crypto token
A token is a digital asset created on an existing blockchain, usually through a smart contract, rather than being the network’s own native coin. Tokens can represent many things: access to a service, voting rights, a stable dollar value, a share of fees or a collectible item. Their rules, such as supply and transfer limits, are defined by the issuing contract. Standards like ERC-20 let wallets and exchanges support many tokens consistently.
